BartCop's most recent rants Subject: Believers are incapable of reason That is what belief is: the rejection of rational thought. People who believe in gods should not be allowed to vote or hold public office or other positions of public responsibility such as running polls or reporting the news or serving in government.
Don't Vote For Bush - He Believes God Tells Him To Kill

Daily Kos :: Political Analysis and other daily rants on the state of the nation. 'Just in the past few months,'' Bartlett said, ''I think a light has gone off for people who've spent time up close to Bush: that this instinct he's always talking about is this sort of weird, Messianic idea of what he thinks God has told him to do.'' Bartlett, a 53-year-old columnist and self-described libertarian Republican who has lately been a champion for traditional Republicans concerned about Bush's governance, went on to say: ''This is why George W. Bush is so clear-eyed about Al Qaeda and the Islamic fundamentalist enemy. He believes you have to kill them all. They can't be persuaded, that they're extremists, driven by a dark vision. He understands them, because he's just like them. . . . ''This is why he dispenses with people who confront him with inconvenient facts,'' Bartlett went on to say. ''He truly believes he's on a mission from God. Absolute faith like that overwhelms a need for analysis. The whole thing about faith is to believe things for which there is no empirical evidence.'' Bartlett paused, then said, ''But you can't run the world on faith.''...

A Note I Wrote to a Friend Who Gets Nutball Right-Wing E-Mails

Send this to 'em: John Kerry, a rich kid, volunteered to join the Navy during Vietnam. Once in the Navy, after a tour on the big boats, he re-upped and volunteered to join the brown river boats, the small attack boats that ran directly up the fresh water rivers into enemy territory. His job there was to fly the flag, draw enemy fire and attack its source. He did so with great distinction and heroism. He was awarded three purple hearts, and once you get three purple hearts, they send you home. George Bush, whose father was a powerful congressman, avoided service in Vietnam. His father skipped him ahead of hundreds of less-wealthy Texas boys to get a spot in an Air National Guard unit that was stocked with the sons of politicians and Dallas Cowboys hoping to stay out of the shooting war in Vietnam. They learned to fly a type of jet that was about to be de-commissioned, and would there fore never see battle again. The year the National Guard began testing for cocaine, Bush skipped his physical and his flying license was revoked. Through his father's political connections, he was moved to Alabama to serve out his four remaining years of obligation to the National Guard. Remember that at this time, hundreds of young American boys, those who were from families that were not headed by politicians or profreesional athletes, hundreds of those less fortunate American boys were dying every week in Vietnam. Bush goes to Alabama to work on a political campaign, but he never shows up at the air base to finish his National Guard service. There is not one witness who will say they saw him show up for a drill in Alabama. Not one. Bush blew it off. His blood was full of cocaine and booze. He was not about to take a physical and be exposed as a drug addict while his dad was rising in the Republican party. But it's simpler than that. Why won't you people see what is as plain as day? How can you ignore what is right in front of you? Bush is a coward, and an idiot, and a puppet. Kerry is a hero, a genius, and is beholden to no one. Bush has lost jobs, blown the biggest deficit in the history of the world, and sacrificed 1000 Americans and 10,000 Iraqis, minimum,...

"Bush Is In A Nixonian Bubble..."

The Washington Monthly And Thursday's press conference was just scary. It's no longer clear if George Bush is merely a cynical, calculating politician — which would be bad enough — or if he actually believes all the happy talk about Iraq that his speechwriters produce for him. Increasingly, though, it seems like the latter: he genuinely doesn't have a clue about what's going on. What's more, his staff is keeping him in a sort of Nixonian bubble, afraid to tell him the truth and afraid to take any positive action for fear that it might affect the election....

Don't Vote For Bush - His Iraq War Strategy is EXCLUSIVELY About the US Election

The Washington Monthly So now we're on Plan D, a feebly disguised version of Plan C: the elections will proceed as scheduled and that will fix everything. It's unlikely that anyone below the level of cabinet secretary actually believes this, but it's impossible to say so because there's an election coming up. An American election, that is. That election, and the political considerations that go along with it, have been driving our military strategy for the past two years. Before the war, we passed up a chance to take out terrorist mastermind Abu Musab Zarqawi — for political reasons. We invaded with too few troops — for political reasons. We lowballed the cost of the war — for political reasons. We ignored the UN and then turned around and pleaded for their help — for political reasons. Then we installed Iyad Allawi as president behind the UN's back — for political reasons....
